Pillar Procedure

The Pillar Procedure is used in many cases to treat mild sleep apnea and primary snoring. This minimally invasive treatment option consists of tiny implants placed in the patient’s soft palate muscle to reduce its tendency to block the airway or flutter during sleep.

As an office-based treatment option that requires only local anesthetic, the non- aggressive surgical Pillar Procedure has less recovery time than more severe surgeries, and is helping patients to resolve their sleeping disorders. It’s a simple and innovative approach that utilizes three tiny inserts – no more than an inch long – to stiffen soft palate tissue, reduce vibrations and airway obstruction, and provide minimal discomfort for patients.

Remember, the first step to getting help for obstructive sleep apnea is to undergo an overnight sleep study that will determine the severity of your condition. This will provide an experienced and specially trained sleep physician with the necessary data to recommend therapy options that can get you on your way to a better night’s sleep.
